Hello everyone,
As you all know, the Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill is a tragedy with a currently unknown solution. It’s devastating, sad and the amount of damage mounting with every day that passes is tragic to say the least. While there are many questions, frustrations, pointing fingers, protests etc…I am currently of this mindset: When you see a traffic accident on the side of the road, the first thing you do is help those in need, and leave the blame game up to the professionals.
There is something we can do. We can help. So what I will do is this: For the month of June, I will donate all net proceeds of any mail order CDs to helping with the clean up of the Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill. You have my word.
Head over to the store section of this website to place an order.

My friend Billy the Kid will be a guest on George Stroumboulopoulos’s The Hour…and we’ll be hosting the Official Unofficial “Ain’t no party like an After Party party!“ at The Shark Club on Georgia Street in Vancouver! Doors at 9pm, $6 cover or FREE if you’ve got your ticket stub from The Hour with you (if you’re one of the lucky ones that got tix!). So, while you don’t have to win to get in, you will feel like you did!
With a little help from my friends..
Secondly, I’m in the running for a slot at Lilithfair…and I could really use your help. Go to think link: http://www.ourstage.com/judge?channel=243-lilith-local-talent-search-vancouver and start voting! There are 9 days left and I’ve been bouncing all around the top 10 spots!
To vote you must sign up to the site (free). The songs come up randomly, so you may not see me right away, but I’m there! Vote for as long as you can and as often as you can! There are 2 voting options, “head to head” or 4 songs that you stack up as 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th. So…ROCK THE VOTE!

Aloha…
I will be back in Whistler again this year for the awesome Telus World Ski and Snowboard Festival. It’s my favorite time of year to go to Whistler, and after the high of the Olympics, this is sure to be a good time! I’ll be on the Chevy Stage April 17th at 1pm and April 18th at 12pm. I’ll be bringin’ Matt Rose and Pete Lemon on stage with me. Now we just need a band name!
See you there…

Aloha,
The Gap has been around for 40 years, and apparently the first store sold jeans & and records! So, for their 40th anniversary they are having a big ol’ party. Part of that celebration is to have a musician in each of their stores across North America playing acoustically! I will be part of this event, playing at Oakridge Mall in Vancouver, BC.
Come on by and partake in the 2 things I love most (sorry Lula)…shopping, and music.
When: Thursday, August 20th
Where: The Gap @ Oakridge Mall, Vancouver, BC
When: 7pm - 9pm
Cost: Music is free, browsing is free, and shopping - they will have discounts!

Hey y’all…
I have several shows coming up in the Calgary area, which means I get to stay on my parents farm and get treated with delicious meals everyday, and peaceful sleeps at night…tour life is rough.
Tomorrow, July 1st, will be Canada Day with Energy 101.5FM @ 5pm. This is an afternoon event, with other musical acts, face painting and more! And then that evening, at 7:30pm I will be playing in Strathmore at Kinsmen park. Both of these shows are FREE!
And then, on Saturday night, July 4th in Leduc (just outside of Edmonton) will be the Leduc Golf & Country Club LOBSTER FEST…which is perfect for my maritimer heart. Tix are $45 and include a deeeelicious lobster dinner, cooked my a real maritimer.
CALGARY STAMPEDE - I will be playing every day (except Tuesday, July 7th) at the GM Tent from 1pm- 2pm and 5pm - 6pm. So come see me when you go to the Stampede!! Yahooo!!

Just like the majority of the world…I am very saddened by the loss of Michael Jackson. A true icon. Beyond all of the ahead-of-his-time, barrier-breaker etc etc….his music was fantastic. He was the epitome of Born To Be. I heard once that he took dance lessons but had to quit because he could imitate any move instantly…and sometimes better. His voice was unbelievable. How he could go from sounding so pure, to so gritty, is beyond me. You should hear me try to imitate it (ha! no you shouldn’t!). I had actually just been revisiting the Dangerous album in the last month or so…my current favorite being “Give In To Me”. His music can always sound new again, it never grows old, and you can constantly discover something new even after your 100th listen.
Michael Jackson’s music and persona has been sprinkled throughout my entire life. I can not think of anyone else in music who has that permanent stamp. I was a HUGE Jackson 5 fan (though that era was before I was alive). That VOICE. He was a KID. I vaguely remember dancing around to Beat It when I was just 3 or 4. We had a VHS tape about the life of Michael Jackson that my mom and I have seen probably 50 times. I remember the Thriller video scaring the crap out of me. I remember loving the “Do You Remember the Time” video with Eddie Murphy. I had a Michael Jackson doll, complete with the glove. I remember wishing that I was the little girl that sang at the end of “Heal the World”. In 2001 when Britney got to sing with Michael…I wished that was me. In my last year of College (diploma in Music) we had to do a final performance with a band. Ours was “It’s your Thing”…and I wore some very sparkly pants.
My favorite (and with every potential to one day humiliate me) memory was when I think I was about 10. My best friend, Dawn, and I were watching Free Willy and listening to Will You Be There over and over again. At one point, my mom made the comment “you know, if you kids could dance like Michael Jackson, you’d be famous”. *light bulb!* Our wheels started turning and we spent the rest of the night learning the dance in the music video. It was New Years Eve so we also had a prop in the form of a black plastic hat that seemed like a good MJ hat. In the morning, Dawn, my sister and I each did our “routine” for my mom. She video tapped it, and that video is somewhere in our house.
I can’t believe it happened, that he is gone. When people say it, it still sometimes shocks me…and when I see his face on TV or a clip from something, it seems surreal.
Someone I did not know whatsoever, but truly the greatest talent of his time…and I’m so glad that I was alive to witness it, enjoy it and embrace it.
Michael Jackson….thank you.

ps: I have a Michael Jackson ring that I am wearing for this tour as my tribute to him! =)
